A Love Letter to Igor

Fall 2020

“I don’t know what’s harder, letting go or just being okay with it.” — Tyler, the Creator

What does it mean to be in love? How does it feel to be vulnerable? Inspired by my favorite album, IGOR is about the feelings of falling into and out of love. Relationships can be complicated, tumultuous, and painful, but they can also be beautiful and full of hope. In this digital mini collection, I wanted to explore these emotions abstractly by way of color, textile design, and silhouette.

The first step in this process was creating moodboards that I felt encapsulated both IGOR’s theme and the vision of the collection.

Featured below is the framework for the collection, concept outlines, and color schemes to demonstrate my thought process.

“Sometimes you gotta close a door to open a window.”

Each flat is named after a song from the album. From left to right: “NEW MAGIC WAND”, “EARFQUAKE”, “I DON’T LOVE YOU ANYMORE”, “IGOR’S THEME”, and “A BOY IS A GUN*” In the next step, these flats will be colored for further visualization.

“But at some point, you come to your senses.”
